Get Psyched for Kidz Adventure!!!

I've been thinking a lot about my upcoming summer lately, willing it to hurry up and get here actually, and I thought I'd do a little promo for Kidz Adventure 09'!

This is going to be the third year for KA to run. What is it? I'm sooo glad you asked! Its a church camp for the young, younger generation, a.k.a. 8-12 yr. olds. My sis, Letha, has gone both yrs. running and is dying for summer to get here with the third. (She's already asking how long til its time to pack up.)
Last yr. I was invited to help by being a team leader. I thought it'd be fun, and a good opportunity to connect with some of the generation I love so much. Kids have a soft spot in my heart, and when I heard about this camp I got excited myself. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I am currently trying to work my summer schedule around being there again. AND...I'm hoping you readers would be interested in finding a way to get involved!

Its one of those days...

You know those rainy days when all you want to do is stay in your pj's and sleep all day, waking only to roll over and grab a good book for an hour or two b/f going back to sleep? When the weather and your mood mesh perfectly for snuggling deeper into the blankets and listening to nature?...well that's how I feel today.

Just rambling

That's it!!! I can't take it anymore!!!

I miss my blog...

****************************************************

Sooo...(read it slowly, raising raising your inflection at the end)

I had tons of hw to catch up on(tests, quizes, etc.) upon returning from the sunny south, but that is pretty much behind me now. Thankfully! I had planned to post lots of pics from my trip on here, but I think since I've loaded most of them into one of four(and counting) new albums on facebook I'm just gonna let you view them on there. It's far and away too much work to put them on here as well. Try this link to view them

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photos.php?id=526240420

and let me know if that doesn't work. Or just go to my facebook profile page and click on my albums. I may or may not add a few more on here...we shall see.

I am so incredibly happy about the beautiful weather God sent us! I've looked for every possible excuse to be outside, and most days haven't found enough reasons by time I have to go to bed that night.

It sure did seem easier when I was a child...we didn't even have good reasons, we simply went outside and then made up the reason once we were out there. I reminisced with my cousins in NC about "tepees" we made in the woods(they sure seemed bigger than what they are in pictures), the creek at Nanny and Papa's, and even the neighbor's noisy donkeys.
We used to have so much fun doing absolutely nothing really. Wonder how life snuck up on me and change everything so efficiently?

Now my brain demands a reason to do most anything and everything. It has to be rational. Spontaneity is to be frowned upon for the most part. That, my friends, is no fun whatsoever.

Now, all that said, I mentioned something along the above lines to my friend a little over a week ago, and she decided to jump on the band wagon(she's actually been on this band wagon for a looong time now), and help point out things that I can do to start being "spontaneous". Allow me to share some examples...(none of which I actually did mind you!)

1)Sneak out of the dorm after curfew to go to McDonalds
2)Push her in a buggy(cart...w/e!) around IKEA and Costco
3)Learn to jump into a convertible while the tops down w/o opening the door
4)Go dumpster diving
5)Do a Chinese fire drill (I've done this b/f but not recently)

I have however, been driving down the highway and caught up with a car, driven beside them honking and letting her wave crazily from the passenger window(we had another friend helping wave in the backseat as well), taken pics of her on a display toilet in IKEA and in their display shower...I've listened to her sing very loudly in a store and played Marco Polo to find each other(apparently cell phones aren't good enough). We've gone driving just to drive, and laughed over the stupidest things!
As I sat thinking about my interaction in all this I've realized something. I'm that friend who will be there through the stupidity, half-heartily participate, whole-heartily laugh about it, and probably tell you its a bad idea...but I enjoy being there and I think my role is needed.
I could probably join in more(if I could overcome my own embarrassment), but I don't have to -- I am me and I like being me.

I know this was a lot of rambling, but it was whats on my mind today...so take it or leave it.

Finding their inner child...in NC

Short and sweet

I've been quite busy since returning to my city. I've had tests to take(one still looms in the distance), other various hw assignments to make up, classes to attend, a room to clean, a cousin to host, houses to clean, more hw to do, sleep to catch up on, a nervous break down to have, and the list continues on! Needless to say in my prioritizing my blog came in low on the totem poll. But...I'm back!!!

Here are a few randomly selected pics from my trip. More will follow after I'm really caught up...enjoy!

Last blog b/f heading home...

The Barr gypsies will be heading home in just a little while. First we thought we'd have one last family adventure. We're fixin' to head to the local flea market.

Should be fun! The south has great flea markets, and its been far to long since I've been to one. On the downside, we've been prohibited from purchasing anything large due to the confined space in which we must travel home. (but Nichole thinks she's bringing back some chicks...)

I'm content with my souvieners at this point. I have a new jean skirt, some flowers from Papa's funeral, CDs from a thrift store, and a jar of red clay. (the family is also bringing back some Duke's mayonise and canned boiled peanuts)

On a side note, I've been using my contacts more and more this trip...mostly due to the absolutely amazing weather which just begs one to wears sunglasses and flip flops -- I obeyed.

Anyway, I'm not quite ready to leave yet, but I do miss all my wonderful Cincy friends and can't wait to see you all. Until then...

Day 1 of our trip

Well, we made it.

My family and I arrived in Thomasville, NC at my aunt Cindy's house a little after noon on Thurs.
Our trip seemed to go by fairly quickly, and I enjoyed the time with my family. (I did find out that as I age I lose more and more of my ability to sleep in the car.) We passed the time listening to some Brian Regan, followed by Mark Lowry, and finally with some good ole' Barr family humor. We reminisced about family camping trips, cook outs, pets, and moving. Everything and anything under the sun was fair game. It was nice to just talk and enjoy each other.

After we arrived we visited for about an hour and then went to the dorm where we're staying to unload. Nichole and myself decided to cousin-nap Anthony and force him to take us to the Goodwill. We ended up stopping at the Shoe Department to surprise another cousin, Kimi, that works there as the manager. (Nichole scored a nice discount due to this.)
That evening we had a bonfire and some more family time. It was followed up with a cousin viewing of Madagascar 2. All in all, our first day here was a lot of fun, and I must say its quite nice to be back in the south...
