It never ceases to amaze me how people have virtually no faith that they can cope or deal with life and its many issues, but how fast they generally are able to "bounce back". Now, this isn't always the case, in rare occasions(or maybe not so rare) people are never able to move on. I believe that we can't or won't "bounce back" until we chose to do so, most people are quite capable, but simply would rather pout and surround themselves with self pity! It is a choice most will be faced with at some point in their life, but each person handles this differently. Most are stronger and can handle far more than they ever thought possible. Although I am finding that this isn't necessarily the case, and that in all honesty, Christians seem to cope so much better than most. It's amazing what having the unconditional love of God can do for a person!
This has been my strong defense since this summer. Without God as my refuge, these last few months of my life would not have been possible to endure. I want to give him praise, and honor for all that He has done in my life, and all that He has taught me, even though some of the lessons have been hard.
Another thing I have to be thankful for, and that I am completely amazed by, has been my support group of friends. I thought that I was all alone, and there would be no one to support me, and care, but then God showed me how truly wrong I had been. I have many absolutely amazing friends, but I was so wrapped up in self pity, and avoiding actually "bouncing back" that I felt all alone. I put myself in exile for awhile, no one else put me there, I did. But lucky for me, my friends were there, and they were waiting until I realized I needed them, and would let them help. Thanks to all those that have been a shoulder to cry on, and an ear to listen! I really appreciate you guys.
Anyway, I suppose I just wanted to reflect on the strength that I have felt, and share with the others that may read this, God is real, He cares and wants to help us "bounce back" and also, you probably have friends waiting to help you too. So, don't give up, don't wallow in self pity, let yourself heal. You can do it...

The Ability to Bounce Back...

The Return to School...
"AAAAHHH!!! The crazies are coming...the crazies are coming!" This can be heard echoing throughout the mind of all those that oppose the optimistic and excited few students ready to head back to their chosen centers of learning. Why do they like it? you may ask. Well, here are some of my theories on why select few of the human race actually enjoy the rush of returning to school...
First there are those truly weird people that are fascinated with knowledge, they really, really enjoy learning new things. These I would like to call the show offs. They are too smart for their own good, and that is why they live for that rush of stepping back onto campus.
Second, we have the fame seekers. They are simply looking forward to getting back to school in order to make themselves known to every poor, unsuspecting soul that crosses their path. They seek to make known their name. They seem friendly, and charming, but then suddenly they're gone. They only stick around long enough to be known. These type of people hate summer break, only due to the lack of new faces to terrorize.
Third we see the freedom searchers. They like to think that they are breaking free from home, and rules. That finally they are back to their life, and living it their way...but wait...college still has rules! Sorry people, you to have been deceived. And if you fail to meet deadlines, etc. it will turn out just as badly as a missed curfew.
Fourth we glance at the bored people. They just want a change of pace. Summer for them was just work, and no friends to hang with, so they want to find civilization again, and to use their brains for something other than mindlessly taking people's food orders. This is where I myself fall in. Although I'm not working the fast food lines of America, I certainly could use some brain stimulation, and my friends back.
And lastly there are the people that don't want to return. They're not excited at all, and really wish that they could dismember the rest of the student body that thinks this is fun. They wish to stay at their jobs, with a semi-decent cash flow. To live at home where the bills are paid, to drive their parents cars, and never fill up with gas, and to sleep in on Saturdays instead of rushing to find a free washing machine. These are the begrudgers...they truly dislike the return of the school year...
So, upon meeting your fellow students this year, use caution. Test to see what category they fall under, and if it's the last one...well, play along...it's safer that way...

Boredom....
Help!!!!
It's Wednesday night, and I'm sitting in my dorm room bored to death!!!! I can't believe that midwinter break just started and I'm already bored.
I do not handle being alone well.
Break started at noon...today.
I have already tired of sitting at the computer, and being in my room. I'm already missing my friends, and wish that I were with them.
I'm desperate for conversation. My sister is sitting on my bed reading...
I assume that this is pretty much what she plans to do for most of the break.
If anyone out there cares, well....let me know. I'd love and appreciate any suggestions about what I can do to entertain myself. I'm not really sure.
OK, so now I'm just rambling...oh wait...that's what I've been doing.
*sigh*
OK...bye for now....

Ramblings....
*sigh* I'm tired and bored of the same old hum-drum. Do you ever just reach that point when nothing seems ineresting anymore? When nothing can hold your attention?
It seems to me that while living on a college campus, without a car, it takes some creativity to come up with something interesting to do. I mean, there are only so many things that are even remotely close for those on foot...ok, it's not quite that bad, but it might as well be on some nights.
For instance, if I just wanted to wander off and go shopping alone, or hang out in a park, well that ain't gonna happen. This is because of the fact that whenever I want to go somwhere I have to find someone to take me, or borrow their car, and since I'm not on any insurrence well, too presents a problem. So, the next possible step is to find a group to hang with, which means that you can't go wherever you want, it ends up being wherever the group wants to go. And that is another problem all in itself. No one can ever make up their minds, or they just don't have an opinion which can be just as bad. So then you spend and hour and a half discussing possiblities of what you could do. Oh, and of course half the group will have money, and half will not. *sigh* This make my head spin.
Anyway, I'm sitting here, on a Saturday nite, "doing homework" in the snack shop. Actually, as obvious, I am adding an entry into my blog, but I did get all the reading done for two of my classes already. Oh, and I'm playing chapron to my buddy "Drama Queen"...lol (shout out to Gigi).
So, that's my nite. Oh, and it's cold, did I mention that it's cold? I can't stand being cold constantly, but for the past week...yep, you guessed it, I've been cold. Cursed snow!
Anyway...I'm tried of typing so I wish you all well, and hope you have many happy days ahead....

Snow...
Snow...what is it about snow???
I hate the stupid, white, wet stuff, but then again...I love it. Today in a matter of about four hours it went from light flakes floating down gracefully, to masses of snow closing down the roads, and reaping havic.
I went to work with a friend, and ended up spending two hours trying to get home, from an area only about ten minutes away. This was both frustrating, and slightly funny. Well, maybe not really so funny, but if one is in the right humor it seems to be almost humorus. I suppose it's because of thinking things such as, "Wow, that's and interesting bumper in front of us...and has been for the past hour and a half..." or maybe thinking, "Huh, isn't it amazing that I have never really stopped to admire the art work on a billboard?"
Besides all of that, it gives one time to think about the afterlife, and things like going there via that car in the right lane sliding into you...
All in all, though the evening turned out fun. I went sleding, for the first time in a while. I only made it down once, but it was down a steep incline that I was terrified of...so to me it turned out to be quite an acomplishment. I had fun, and just might be tempted to do it again sometime. I guess it all depends on what humor I'm in...
Enjoy the snow...!

What Really Amazes Me
Whenever the line slowed and I got a chance, I would sit down. But not Kadreah, she stood all night long and gave that counter what-for. I found myself staring off into space, and imagining Africa. Granted all I have to go on is TV documentaries and such, but a picture was forming in my head to coincide with the drumming. It's amazing how much a metal counter can sound like a set of drums under the right hands.
I saw the faces of Africa before me, tall, proud warriors, dark, smooth skinned women, young, lively children. Africa was as close and closer than it's ever been. And all thanks to someone pounding away on a metal counter top. Isn't that amazing?

I Wonder
I wonder
I wonder if Hitler tended the fire when he was young?
If he carried the split logs into the house,
carefully arranged the kindling, starter wood, and logs.
I wonder if he struck the match,
and held it out until a tiny flame began to grow.
Did he watch as the flame became a fire?
As the kindling was consumed and the fire caught hold of the logs,
did he stare at the multi-colored magic
which danced before him across its personal stage?
Did he watch the fire burn?
Did he see how the log, once good and whole, young and green,
became burnt and holed, charred and destroyed?
Did he take up the poker and knock away the charred outsides,
ridding the log of its outer skin
and providing the fire with a fresh stage, a fresh start?
Did he notice that when the old was knocked away
the fire burned brighter, the magic grew?
Did he ponder these things as he gazed into the fire?
Did he compare them to life?
Did he watch the fire burn?
Did he continue to knock away
the charred, to allow more charring?
Till at last the fire burnt low,
and then died,
robbed of its stage,
denied further victims.
When the magic flickered, faded, and fled,
did he go?
Did he watch the last glowing embers die?
I wonder if he noticed that ridding
himself of the old, useless, and burnt,
had made the fire burn hotter, yes.
It had made the fire burn brighter, yes.
But it had also made the fire burn faster as well.
I wonder if he noticed that in the end,
the magic was gone,
and ashes were all that was left.

Friends...
Friends are amazing.
For instance, take a friend whom you've only know for a matter of months. How is it that they can already tell so much about you that they know when somethings wrong, they know when you're down? Then of course no matter how annoying you have been, or what a pain you've been, they always try to cheer you up.
They know when I'm hurting, and they hurt too. The truly amazing thing is that it works both ways. I usually know when a friend is upset about something, and it cause my heart to literally ache for them! Especially when I can't just take things into my own hands and fix them.
Friends, true friends, uplift you, encourage you, they're a shoulder to cry on, and an ear to listen. It doesn't matter if they have problems too, friends help each other through. I love that God created us like that. Even though people can be cruel, and hurtful, they can also be that person you can turn to when no one else even cares.
Here's two quotes that I love about friends:
1. "What is a friend? A single soul, dwelling in two bodies."
2. "Friends are the family we choose."
This is a shout out to all my friends...I love you guys!!!

They try to say that us girls are sooo hard to read...are you kidding me??? They are so stupid sometimes!!! And why is it that girls are supposed to just sit around waiting for some prince charming to come sweep them off their feet? Maybe, just maybe we get tired of that every now and then...besides who says I just want to wait on whomever decides to "pick" me? Maybe I want to pick who ever I have to end up with...did they ever think of that????? ARGH!!! Anyway, this is just the rantings of a retard in destress...so I'm shutting up now...good nite'

Sleepless nights...
I've decided that another thing that amazes me is the ability to operate on virtually no sleep.
In example, when one comes to college they might have been used to staying up late, but most are used to being able to sleep in the following morning, or at least on that Saturday. This is not the case with college. Considering student work jobs on the weekends, or endless homework, christian service that must be done, or any manner of other things, there isn't always time to sleep in on Saturdays.
I know from my own personal experience that weekends are just as busy as a week day. I think I've had a sum total of five to six Saturdays that I was able to sleep in, and that my friends is being liberal with my estimates. I know this isn't necessarily true for all students, but probably so for most.
I'm amazed at how many students run off of three to six hours of sleep a night, and sad to admit, I am amongst that majority. I suppose being an avid coffee drinker does have it's perks, although sometimes it just doesn't cut it. That's when I start to notice heads nodding in chapel...this amuses me...until I realize that I to am beginning to doze. *sigh* I think that this problem is what eventually catches up with adults in their late sixties and causes constant napping in the afternoons...lol
Also by this point any adult that used to be able to stay up by drinking coffee, well, their bodies have now built up a wonderful immune system to all caffeine products.
So in essence, college will come back to haunt us one day, and what seemed like important reasons to stay up, (such as writing blogs about loss of sleep) will all seem so trivial...

You know what amazes me...?
Cottage Cheese: Why do we choose to eat something that basically is curdled milk?
Babies: How do they ever end up talking normal with all the goo-goo, ga-ga that they hear?
Flip-Flops: How can a shoe be so addictive?
Dogs: Do they really end up looking like their owner...or is it vice-versa?
Computers: Are they really a help...or are they an evil invention made to cause the destruction of all mankind...and how is it that they always crash, die, and go kablooie when you need them the most???
Fire: Why can something so beautiful be so painful to touch...and why is the urge to burn things occasionally very strong??? (Little known fact...I have slight pyromaniac tendencies)
People: Why on earth do people read these things?
